ANTICA  PIZZERIA: History

Antica Pizzeria

It was 1986 when Peppe Miele decided to open the first Trattoria on 3rd Street in Los Angeles. With simple decor and a warm, friendly atmosphere, Peppe’s L.A. Trattoria had a passionate commitment: promote the food from his hometown of Naples, Italy by serving up classic dishes made from the freshest ingredients according to time-honored recipes.

L.A. Trattoria opened its doors to glowing reviews and flourished. Peppe realized, however, that one thing was missing from his menu: the classic Neapolitan pizza, cooked in a wood burning oven according to an age-old culinary tradition.

In 1992, next door to L.A. Trattoria, Peppe opened Antica Pizzeria. Peppe’s pizza soon earned praised as the best in Los Angeles by the L.A. Times food critic Irene Virbila. Fabulous food and Mediterranean warmth made the restaurant a favorite of food conoscenti and celebrities such as Madonna, Kiefer Sutherland, David Soul and many others.

In 1997, the second Antica Pizzeria opened its doors in Marina del Rey. Antica Pizzeria continues to win glowing reviews and critical acclaim from Gourmet, Bon Appetit, Food & Wine, The Los Angeles Times, Saveur and other prestigious magazines. The menu is constantly updated to offer our guests the best of seasonal Neapolitan and Italian cuisine.
